How to avoid sending crypto to the wrong network

Wrong-network transfers can be difficult or impossible to recover. Pause before sending and verify the full route, not just the token symbol.

Match asset and network

Treat the asset and network as one selection. USDT on Ethereum and USDT on TRON are different transfer routes.

Confirm destination support

Open the receiving wallet's deposit screen for the exact asset and network. Do not assume an address is compatible because it has a familiar shape.

Check memo or destination tags

Some networks or custodial receiving services require a memo, tag or payment ID. If the destination provides one, copy and verify it with the address.

Use a small test when appropriate

For a new wallet or route, consider a small compatible test transfer if fees and minimums make that practical. Never split a created exchange deposit unless its instructions allow it.
